THE RAM JETHMALANI FOUNDATION

The main objects of the Foundation are to work in the field of Education, Public Health and Environment.

A Charity was created out of the generous contributions of Mr.Ram Jethmalani and some of his friends. It was registered on 08.03.2007
as ‘The Ram Jethmalani Foundation’ and is registered under the Income Tax Act and donations will be eligible for tax benefits under section 80-G of the Income Tax Act. The Foundation has undertaken/sponsored many small projects.


The following is a near exhaustive list of activities of the Foundation.

  1. In March 2008 the Foundation donated an Ambulance to Sahara, an organization which works in the slums especially for the people affected with HIV Positive Virus and is also running a de -addiction centre for victims of drugs and alcohol abuse. The cost of Ambulance was Rs. 263545/-.
  2. The Foundation is sponsoring vocational training programmes for the Deaf and Mute women in collaboration with the Delhi Foundation of Deaf Women since 2008 and has donated rupees more than 15 Lakhs till date for paying salaries of Teachers, installation and repairing of computers and for the various beauty and leather craft courses.
  3. In November 2008 we donated a Blood Analyzer Machine to a charitable dispensary called “Dukh Nivaran Samiti” in Delhi which is engaged in the treatment of Tuberculosis and taking care of the nutritional needs of the patients undergoing treatment.
  4. We sponsored relief work by making a contribution through the CM’s relief Fund in December 2008, in the District of Madhepura and Saharsa in Bihar which were among the worst affected areas when Kosi River changed its course and flooded the surrounding areas. We also donated the blankets to the affected families.
  5. In January 2009, we sponsored the School Magazine of the children living and studying in the slums schools run by Deepalaya, a well known NGO in the field of Education. The cost incurred for the printing of this magazine was Rs. 65000/- which was funded by the Foundation to showcase the creative works of these under privileged children.
  6. The Foundation has sponsored the education of 50 girl students in the Deepalaya Gram, Guspethi for the academic year starting from 1st April 2009 to 31st March 2010. The cost of this education programme was Rs. 3, 50, 000/-.
  7. In May, 2009 we had undertaken to finance a project submitted by the Cheshire Homes Delhi Unit for the Renovation of the Day Care Centre, an organization working for the mentally retarded old aged persons. The cost of the project was Rs. 13, 31, 925 lakhs. It serves as a kind of atelier for the execution of the hand crafts & skills of the disabled. We are now financing another project to lay roads in the open spaces in the Cheshire Home Premises so as to enable wheel chair bound inmates to transport themselves safely.
  8. In the year 2009, on the World Forest Day we planted 30 fruit trees and constructed two compost pits to help the school named Sister Nivedita Sarvodaya Kanya Vidhyalaya, Defence Colony, New Delhi., to produce its own manure for use in the school gardens. We cleaned and maintained the school garden for four months before handing over charge to the school gardeners. The cost of the project was about Rs. 40000/-
  9. In the response to an appeal in “The Hindu” dated 27.8.2009 for financial help for performing operation of a child called Baby Pooja at Women Welfare Syndicate, the Foundation made a contribution of Rs.50,000/-
  10. The Foundation is sponsoring Mahila Chaitanaya Sravanti since 2009 which is an autonomous body established for the welfare of the blind, old and women and has donated rupees more than 18 Lakhs till date for various purposes such as to buy computers to teach children of fourth class employees and other needy children, for Drinking water projects and for paying salaries of teachers and staffs and for various other programmes.
  11. In the year 2009 we donated a sum of Rs. 1,00,000/- towards General Donation to Vishranthi Charitable Trust which works for home for aged destitute women.
  12. In the year 2009 we donated a sum of Rs. 49,444. 43/- for the installation of Blue Star Water Cooler in Asian Public School situated at Maharaja Ranjeet Singh Marg, New Delhi and also contributed a sum of Rs. 7,10,000/- in the year 2014-15 for the construction of 4 classrooms.
  13. In October, 2009 we donated a Galileo Digital Video EEG system to the KEM Hospital in Mumbai for the treatment of poor patients suffering from epilepsy. The cost of the machine was Rs. 10,97,200/-. We are happy to record that the machine is being used 24X7 by the Department of Neurology.
  14. Our Foundation is supporting Save the Children India since 2010 in a project called Balwadi Pre-school Program. For one Balwadi we target 30 Children at the age group of 3 years to 6 years. Till date we have outreached 180 children in collaboration with Save the Children India.
  15. In April, 2010 we had undertaken a project i.e. “On wheels Project”. Our foundation had donated a total sum of Rs. 11,00,000/- to Rotary Delhi Central Charitable Trust by sponsoring there project. This project was undertaken for rehabilitation of disabled by providing tailor made Jaipur Foot, limbs and Calipers etc.
  16. In July, 2011 we donated a sum of Rs. 25,000/- to Circle of Animal Lovers situated in New Delhi. This organization works for the prevention of cruelty to animals and is recognized by Animal Welfare Board of India.
  17. In August, 2011 we donated a sum of Rs. 56,427.50/- for the purpose of building Science Lab and Library to RMX foundation of New Hope at New Delhi.
  18. In October, 2011 we donated a sum of Rs. 2,50,000/- towards the social projects of Paramita Charitable Trust for the relief work done towards the vast devastation caused by earthquake in Kalimpong, Distt. Darjeeling, West Bengal.
  19. In November, 2011 we donated a Traveler Ambulance for an amount of Rs. 12,56,625/- to Palpung Munishasan Dharma Chakra Sangh (Regd) in District Kangra, Himachal Pradesh.
  20. In the year 2012 we sponsored Alice project at Sarnath in Uttar Pradesh which aims to explore the understanding of self while studying academics in order to be able to play an ever growing positive and constructive role for a better environment and society.
  21. The Foundation is continuously sponsoring the NGO “People for Change” at Suraj Kund in Haryana since 2014 for the purpose of computer education. We have also undertaken to pay rent for the school premises used for the purpose of educating under privileged children in Faridabad. These are children of the Construction Labour working in the various building sites.
  22. In the year 2014 the Foundation donated a sum of Rs. 3,50,000/- to Jammu and Kashmir Peace Foundation for the relief programmes for flood victims of Kashmir.
  23. In the year 2014 we donated a sum of Rs. 1,31,405/- to NIIT Ltd., Delhi, for imparting computer classes to a student Rajat Prasad.
  24. In the year 2015 we constructed a Play area for the under privileged children at New Delhi.
  25. The Foundation is presently planning a project for street children, the homeless and the destitute. It has already applied to the Central Government for allotment of land for execution of the project and the reply is still awaited.
  26. The Foundation has also undertaken a project for conservation of water with World Wildlife Fund (WWF) where out of total donation of Rs. 4,00,000/-, Rs. 2,00,000/- is given and remaining Rs. 2,00,000/- is yet to be given. The Foundation is looking to widen it activities. It is counting on the philanthropy of the members of public and other entities to contribute generously.
